I developed a prototype for blind people with diabetes to read their glucose data. It was part of my master thesis where I evaluated the impact of diabetes medical equipment on the daily life of a person with diabetes mellitus, particularly with regard to user experience and potential psychological effects.

I scrolled through my pictures and was surprised how many things I created during the past years. I sold tools like my 3D printer to focus on my new project @heymeala - not sure if that was a good decision. We'll see - I'm always looking for solutions to problems that I see during my daily life. When I run out of insulin, I get nervous, even though I have the privilege of getting insulin on prescription. Everytime when my resevor has only 1 or 2 vials left I realize how important that medicin is. Access to this life-saving treatment is often difficult, and sometimes impossible, to achieve in under-resourced countries. Without support, many young people die soon after being diagnosed. My android phone that I used for my closed loop died a few days ago. I tried to fix it and disassembled it, but I had no luck. So I‘m back on my iPhone with the Dexcom app. It’s crazy ... now I realize that I‘m technology depended and won’t live without a loop. I‘m waking up serval times at night, have no control and need to adjust my blood glucose manually. I‘m missing the bolus calculator, information about insulin on board and the predictions during the day...
